I recently entered a banknote that had been torn in half and used sticky tape to put it back together again.

I'm wondering if I can still spend the note? Hope you can help...

If it's all there it is still legal tender, although most likely when a bank or the RBA ends up with it the note will be withdrawn for recycling. I have sticky taped heaps of broken notes, if you do it straight enough and with no gaps, even vending machines and pokies will take them.

In fact, even if it had been torn in half and the other half was lost, you can still claim a percentage of the face value as long as there is a significant amount of the note left (e.g. more than 20%), in that case you just take it to your local bank.
