Has anyone here ever had trouble reading serial numbers on Aussie notes? I've confused 6's and 9's once or twice, and a lot of people have registered 1998 $100 notes; there's no such thing! |

I thought there weren't any, I have previously read the RBA serial number list. Now I saw them; oops! |

A faded serial number tends to disappear against the blue background. |

how many $100 notes were made in 1996, & 1998? I could swear black & blue i've had a AA98 note before. Remember because I didn't want to give it away but I got $2000 discount on a new racebike. I've had heaps of AA & AZ $100 notes & GG notes that were really close together. |

Well that AA 100 goes up in value, while the bike goes down. Guess next time then. |

Does the serial number have check digits like with credit card numbers? |

no...the only thing is the year which is the first 2 numbers on all notes except for the light pink fraser/cole $5. You can g to rba.gov.au for serial number info and print runs. |
