What is the oldest note(s) you've entered? Posted by trickymario7654 6 years ago (20 Oct 2017) |
For me, it was a 1993 10-dollar note. http://www.moneytracker.com.au/note/115540.html It was in an incredible shape for its age. Also entered some 1995 50-dollar notes... http://www.moneytracker.com.au/note/98061.html http://www.moneytracker.com.au/note/98433.html http://www.moneytracker.com.au/note/115264.html http://www.moneytracker.com.au/note/115542.html A 1995 5-dollar note. http://www.moneytracker.com.au/note/118171.html So, what're the oldest notes you've entered? 1992 "AA" series $5 notes. The only note I haven't seen since I was a kid was the original 1988 $10 note. Reply | Reply with quote |

The oldest (for me), barring the virtual $5 note would be these 1994-issue $20 notes: https://www.moneytracker.com.au/note/120037.html https://www.moneytracker.com.au/note/120036.html https://www.moneytracker.com.au/note/120035.html Reply | Reply with quote |

I don't think I've seen any pre-2005 $5 or $10 notes in a while (and even the 2002 and 03-mark ones are not common now)! Pre-2005 $20 notes have also become really hard to see in the past 5 years or so! Most older issue notes I see (pre-1999) are either $50 or $100 notes these days! Reply | Reply with quote |

1995 $50s are still easy to find (as are 1996 $100s, but you will most likely have to go to the bank or pokies/TAB to get $100s as ATMs with those are few and far between). I had a 1994 $20 in my change earlier this year, haven't seen another one since. The 2001 Federation $5s seem to have all but vanished too. Reply | Reply with quote |

The 2001 Federation $5s seem to have all but vanished too.$50 and $100 notes are pretty much the only notes I will see that have a printing date from the 1990's. I did recently get a 1994-issue $20 note as well, I haven't seen anymore since. $50 (and especially) $100 notes do not get used as often, hence they survive longer and tend to be in far better condition. If I ever get a $100 note from an ATM, there is a good chance it will be a 1996-99 note. As for the old $5/10/20 notes, they are simply used far too often and wear out I guess. I would also venture to say that some have been withdrawn from circulation (other than the RBA disposing of said note). I have a 2002 $5 that is pretty well used. I have a 2002 $10 which is little better. They are both in the condition that if it was used at a store, it would be sent for disposal, more or less. They (ATMs which dispense $100 notes) seem to be common at Shopping Centres and also in the CBD. I haven't seen a Pale Mauve or a Federation $5 note in (I would say) years now. They are simply that rare. Reply | Reply with quote |

Most times, when I receive change, only the current notes come out. Reply | Reply with quote |

That I actually received in circulation- 1993 $10, used to get them every now and then, in fact the most recent one I got was only in 2021. Likewise with 1994 $20. Less common now but still probably a fair few 1995 $50 in circulation also given the sheer numbers that were printed. Reply | Reply with quote |
