The total value of notes entered is now not far off the million dollar mark. This event might be a good time for some special publicity for the site. Is anything planned? And now that there's a reasonable amount of figures to play around with, are there plans to implement some more of the good ideas suggested in the feature requests forum?

I just found this site. Looks like it could be a lot of fun. I've entered a few notes already.
I work at Markets a festivals, so in theory could enter a very large amount of money, and get it circulating again quickly. But I don't know how patient I'll be.
I'm also promoting the site. I think it really needs more active users, that's the only way (apart from lots of labeling) that we can start to get regular legit hits.

i think that u cant write on banknotes but u can sure put a sticky note on it but wouldnt it look weird when u hand it into the supermarket or something

I would think that one of those labeller machines (Dymo/Brother P-Touch/etc) with black "ink" on a transparent label would be good. Being transparent, the label would be less likely to be noticed by shopkeepers/cashiers, who handle thousands of bills a day, but still likely that others would notice it.

I'll try it and see

As a minimal safety procedure, I suggest that money tracker restrict people from entering the same note serial number from the same IP for a duration of two weeks or more. At first I thought that maybe this should be forever, though I understand that by pure coincidence someone might acquire the same bill twice.

This would stop a large amount of people cheating (mind you, without any self-gain) and would reduce the amount of mistakes made on the site.
Keep in mind, that even if this were to be put into place, there are still people with dynamic IPs so they could enter the same bill in a matter of minutes.

Hello, the answer to your question is, money is proberly collected in all countries. There is evidence that is happened in ancient Rome, Augustus was known to hand out old cois as gifts. I can't swap as I am in Melbourne, but have a nice trip and I hear Sydney is crap but I don't know. Wes we know the Euro is used by many countries, just like the Central African and WEst African franc and East Carribean Dollar. The U.S dollar is used by Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama, Micronesia etc. Have fun.

Hello! I am new here, I live in Spain but I am going to Australia during a whole year. I will live in Sydney very soon.

I am a user of Eurobilltracker.com (you can see it at http://en.eurobilltracker.eu ) which is a similar site to Moneytracker.com but in the whole European Union (you know that the Euro currency is used in many European countries so... it takes quite funny when you have a HIT with a foreign!) Anyway... I registered here to "suply" the Eurobiltracker during my visit to Australia

Anyway, my question is: Does anyone collect coins here?
I mean: I collect coins and banknotes and I am interested in Swapping them. I can offer you some Euro coins or even, some ancian "peseta" from Spain.

I think keep them, otherwise people will exploit this for price rises. I do see your point. As long as we didn't go and change all the other coins too like NZ, I'd live with it. I personally hoard them in a piggy bank!
